Shoplifting Arrest May Lead to Felony Charges

|

WHITE PLAINS, NY – According to Kevin Zawacki of White Plains Patch, a Westchester woman allegedly stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise from Neiman Marcus at 1 Paulding St. in White Plains on March 10, 2013. Employees claim they saw the woman put three gold chains in her bag.

The woman was arrested by the White Plains police and charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree which is a felony. In New York, a person can be charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree when the property stolen exceeds $1000 in value.

Grand larceny in the fourth degree is a serious charge and could lead to significant consequences, including up to four years in prison. Even if this is a first offense, the possible ramifications are serious. First time offenders, as well as repeat offenders, will face the possibility of going to prison, probation, community service and various fines. Additionally, a felony conviction could affect other aspects of your life such as immigration status, chance of employment, education applications, retention of professional license or your ability to receive federal assistance.

The impact on your life of a felony conviction goes further than the courtroom. It is in your best interests to seek the guidance of an experienced attorney as soon as possible and together fight for your rights.
